OMG Beetlejuice. I freaking love that movie. And Die Hard! *happy sigh* My best friend in middle school and I watched that movie like 40 times. Hee.

Your list is awesome. *makes notes*

If you are sad because you had to leave one off? Good news! 5 and 17 are the same and now you can add one! :-)

I wanted a Tim Burton movie on there and I think Beetlejuice is one of his more accessible movies. And I love it! It has such a great cast and it's so funny. And Die Hard was like THE action movie when it came out, you know? And it's still really watchable.

I WAS sad that I had to leave some off! Thank you for catching that! I added Willow, though I had something on that I replaced and I can't remember what it was....

Oh, and two more people on my flist did your meme! I thought you'd like to know. :)

I took a film class last year and we watched Chinatown and Manhattan and I was really surprised by how many iconic images were in both and how I had just been missing the references to them all this time.

Never seen Goonies?! Wow!

I've never heard of Hard Boiled.

I gotta ask, though. For every movie on the list, I can think of something unique or special or especially well-done about it except Patriot Games. So, why Patriot Games?

Hard Boiled is an early John Woo film starring Chow Yun-Fat and Tony Leung and I picked it because Woo has had such an influence on action movies and that one's a really good example.

I think Patriot Games brought the political thriller back around in popularity - it was a sequel itself, but after it came out, we got a slew of Grisham novels-turned-movies and In the Line of Fire (ooh, that would have been a good one for the list), etc. Plus, I think it has an outstanding cast.
