(can you tell I'm catching up?) Now I'm thinking it might have worked better if Gimli simply slumped face down on the table, all passed out. Hmm. The part that really tickled me the most was Legolas's "I think I feel a tingling in my fingertips" or something. Legolas, so pretty, so elven, so perfect. Hee.
I think the one hobbit that is too young for me to appreciate in "that" way is Elijah. But I love reading him in fic. Especially when he's written as the filthy-mouthed, sloppy, impulsive American he supposedly is. Love! But of all the actors playing the hobbits, Dom strikes a chord with me the most. On the other hand, the hobbit in the books/movies that's by far my favorite is Samwise Gamgee. I remember finishing the third book for the first time (also after I saw the first movie too just like you ha!). I remember feeling so spent and saying aloud to an empty room with tears in my eyes, "Oh, Samwise."
I want to re-read the parts about the Rangers. I don't really remember the details. I agree, there is always something about elite warriors of the olden days. They don't make them like that anymore in our world today, huh? Another reason why those epic-type movies like King Arthur, etc. are so easy to bite into.
