But I love reading him in fic. Especially when he's written as the filthy-mouthed, sloppy, impulsive American he supposedly is. Love!
Dude, me too! I have no trouble at all with fic and some of my very favorite lotrips fic is centered around Elijah. But on the flip side, watching him make out with Franka Potente in All I Want gave me the squick. Maybe it's the visual. When I see him on screen, all I can think about is that I've been watching him in movies since he was wee.
On the other hand, the hobbit in the books/movies that's by far my favorite is Samwise Gamgee.
Sam and Pippin are neck and neck for me. I adore Sam, and I absolutely consider him the hero of LotR. But Pippin is... he's Pippin! He has such a wonderful little character arc, and he's so happy and curious and mischievous. I just love him.
I agree, there is always something about elite warriors of the olden days.
Seriously. There's just something about them being all noble and honorable and badass. It brings the shivers.
Another reason why those epic-type movies like King Arthur, etc. are so easy to bite into.
I just saw King Arthur last weekend! I don't know why it took me so long to see it. What a pretty movie. I'm coming in late to the Ioan Gruffud bandwagon, but I'm on board now with a vengeance.
